Citizens Police Academy
I have been officially signed up for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Departments "Citizens Police Academy." This does not mean I am in the police academy, rather it means that I get to learn about the local police procedures and get an understanding of what they go through on a daily basis, as well as learning the different divisions that I could choose from. or as it says on the site:
The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is a 12-week program which gives our community members first-hand information on the role of police officers in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).
I will get to go on a ride along as well as take a firearms training. Both of which I can hardly wait for. From the LVMPD site, it lists what I can expect in the class:
- Department Organization and Ethics
- Overview of the Legal System - Criminal/Constitutional Law
- Use of Force - Patrol Procedures
- Gangs - Dangerous Drugs
- Police Employees Assistance Program
- Firearms Training, SWAT and K-9 Demonstrations
- Air Support - Homicide
- Traffic/DWI Enforcement - Public Information Office/Media Relations
- Clark County Detention Center Tour

Sounds fun... But I hope it's not a cult, and they try to brainwash you...
